JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Manager, HR Organizational Development, the Training Specialist works independently to provide training and development for EPE employees while providing support within functional areas of Human Resources and Organizational Development with a focus on the development, delivery, and measurement of training curriculum for new hires, supervisors, operational positions such as transmission & distribution, system operations, power generation, or other related operations area, and leadership development, performance management, employee engagement, and individual coaching.
•Researches, develops, recommends, and executes innovative strategies and program curriculum to support ongoing and strategic work throughout the Company.
•Partners with members of the team and subject matter experts to develop and/or maintain programs to enhance business outcomes through needs analysis, instructional design, and instructional delivery, individually or in a classroom, to develop a talent pipeline to meet today's and tomorrow's needs.
•Responsibilities include working directly with department managers/supervisors and other Company employees to assist in carrying out responsibilities of personnel matters, as directed. Responsible for extensive dealing with internal and external clients, implementing and maintaining various training programs and processes, and managing various related projects as assigned. May provide guidance and direction to team members. Assists in the development of HR policies and procedures.
•Serves in a consultant capacity in developing and implementing strategic training plans, department plans, and training initiatives to effect organizational performance and cultural change.
EDUCATION:
•Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, management, public administration, organizational development, communications, psychology, education, sociology, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of related training, education, and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•Experience in training and development or operational and technical training capacity, as well as experience in a human resources generalist role, is beneficial.
•Knowledge of effective instructional techniques for needs assessment, research and evaluation, statistical, and data collection techniques.
•Knowledge of an electrical utility.
•Knowledge of change management methodologies, instructional design, classroom delivery skills, and technical writing.
•Knowledge of required operational compliance requirements or operational procedures for area specialties such as NERC, T&D, Power Generation, System Operations, or others as the need arises.
•Ability to effectively create and execute project work plans and revise them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
•Ability to operate personal computer and software applications (I.e., Zoom, Teams, Captivate, Articulate, and MS Office 365) or develop training programs, conduct formal and informal training courses, provide individual coaching and performance guidance, assist in training administration, and prepare reports.
•Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, good presentation skills.
•Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with executives, managers, supervisors, fellow employees, outside consultants, and the public.
•Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Develops training courses, prepares cost analysis, and presents to management for approval; ensures training and development plans are linked to company strategy and measures the outcome of the training programs.
•Conducts or oversees the delivery of training programs or coordinates the training of outside vendors or internal subject matter experts to develop the skills of employees and achieve the Company's goals and objectives.
•Evaluate the training programs' effectiveness through feedback, surveys, and other related internal or external sources, and conduct follow-up sessions.
•Conducts training sessions such as new employee orientation, supervisor orientation, leadership development, department training, operational or technical training as assigned, team building, customer service, skill building classes, and other related courses.
•Assists in training administration duties to include classroom preparation, setup and breakdown of classrooms, all related logistics, class enrollment, training material production, data input into the learning management system, and reporting.
•Keeps abreast of new changing organizational trends, teaching methods, and training techniques.
•Assists in developing and implementing workforce planning initiatives, including workforce analysis, assessment and evaluation of candidates, training needs analysis, development of training plans at individual and group levels, succession planning, change management, and operations training.
•Able to serve in a consultant capacity to supervisors, managers, and employees to determine performance issues and recommend training and performance plans to meet Company goals and propel cultural change.
•Valid driver’s license and be in compliance with the Company’s Driving Program policy.
•Complies with all applicable company policies, procedures, and codes of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations, including employment, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
