The Technician’s Apprentice will work under a Lead Technician to learn and assist in the maintenance, repair, and operation of complex underwater search and recovery systems and subsystems. This person will work in a team environment under supervision. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports directly to the Lead Technician.
- Assists in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting complex search (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)), towed systems, and recovery (Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)) systems.
- Assists in maintaining, repairing, and refurbishing deck machinery.
- Understands and complies with Phoenix safety procedures.
- Complies with established Phoenix QMS processes and procedures.
- High mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely follow instructions in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of general hand tools.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn and assist other Technicians.
- Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as multimeters, current meters, external power supplies and/or hydraulic test equipment such as flowmeters and pressure gauges is preferred.
- Familiarity with welding and/or machining is preferred.
- Computer competence in Windows environment.
- Team player with attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check, as required.
