Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Production Geology Supervisor, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will be working in the open pits and will be responsible for maintaining the grade mined by means of monitoring the mining production cycle and accurately reporting progress on site. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Work in line with the different grade control and production sampling QA/QC procedures;
- Ensure the short-term plan is followed on the field, including cost follow up and variance analysis;
- Participate in the planning and organization of resources (material, human etc.) for various projects and be an active part in the execution phase;
- Conduct geological data collection (sampling);
- Review procedures and ensure compliance;
- Follow up with the Drill & Blast Supervisor for any irregularities in the sample quality;
- Provide training to new drillers in regard to good production sampling practices;
- Print and provide sample tags to the operation for every new drill pattern when required by your supervisors and retrieve all the samples from the active drill patterns once completed;
- Follow up closely during the mining process of the ore zones by guiding the shovel operators to optimize ore recovery and limit dilution. Ensure geological controls on the ore zones throughout the mining process;
- Install and recover the BMM’s (Blast Movement Monitors);
- Lay out packets on the field with a GPS;
- Perform sampling in the stockpiles, mines or process plant rejects as requested;
- Perform all tasks listed above in an “health and safety first” spirit by ensuring that all work procedures are followed up properly and any irregularity addressed.
- Geology Technician certificate or diploma;
- 3 year’ of experience in an open pit mining environment;
- Hold a valid Driver’s License;
- Cultural awareness and understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic is considered an asset;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
