Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is seeking a Technical Support Manager.


SUMMARY

The Technical Support Manager is responsible for overseeing and supporting the development of Field Service Project Managers and Field Service Engineers. As the primary point of contact for field employees, this role ensures alignment with development plans, qualification requirements, and ongoing training and performance review processes. The manager also maintains the qualification tracking system (Vairkko) and partners with the PGS Training Department to ensure all training remains current and aligned with operational needs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate core competencies: action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership.
Manage field employees by supporting day-to-day operational needs, performance evaluations, training, and mobilization schedules.
Confirm crew readiness and validate project crew compositions with Service Operations and Resource Managers.
Leverage analytical tools to build high-performing, balanced field crews.
Develop standard practices and metrics to evaluate and improve team and subcontractor performance.
Support the vetting and onboarding of seasonal and subcontracted resources.
Track and report project performance metrics to leadership.
Coordinate resource availability, including managing leave and mobilization schedules.
Collaborate with EHS and Service Operations teams to ensure accurate travel and immigration documentation.
Support outage optimization by training field teams on updated processes, tools, and work packages.
Conduct on-site audits during project execution, including planning, installation, commissioning, and closeout phases.
Review and assess project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
Analyze customer feedback and post-outage data to recommend process and performance improvements.
Partner with the PGS Training Department and stakeholders to coordinate career development plans.
Monitor EHS training compliance and certification status.
Collaborate with HR on recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding efforts.
Contribute to talent review discussions, with a focus on growth and retention of high-potential employees.
Provide technical guidance for maintenance and repair of turbines, generators, and associated equipment.
Support field engineers in resolving challenges and escalate issues as needed.
Apply knowledge of turbine-generator maintenance and balance-of-plant systems.
Collaborate with the Cost Estimating group to support field service pricing and scope definition.
Support FSM Core implementation and process integration.
Participate in pre-outage planning activities.
Travel approximately 25% or more as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university, and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Technical & Analytical Skills:

Ability to interpret technical documents such as drawings, schematics, and procedures.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in statistical and geometric concepts.
Effective decision-making and data-driven reasoning capabilities.


Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities.


Computer Skills:

Proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, word processing, ERP systems, technical diagrams, and project/flowchart software.


Certifications:

Valid driver's license and passport required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
May be exposed to loud environments and hazardous work areas.
Required to wear proper PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection, as applicable.
