About the role
The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Team Lead will oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for our projects within the natural gas and LNG industry. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering innovative solutions to optimize operational efficiency and safety. The I&C Team Lead will play a pivotal role in project execution, client interaction, and driving technological advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
•Leadership and Team Management:
+ Lead and mentor a team of I&C engineers and technicians,
+ Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely project delivery,
+ Conduct performance evaluations and support professional growth,
+ Organize team building events,
+ Maintain department operating and checking procedures,
+ Run regular department meetings,
+ Communicate company goals and policy,
+ Communicate changes from industry standards and practices,
+ Screen job applicants and conduct interviews,
+ Monitor department quality and approve corrective actions,
+ Co-ordinate with support groups (IT, OD, Administration, HSE).
+ Stay up to date with regulatory body practices and guidelines,
+ Develop project schedules, budgets and resource plans,
+ Coordinate with multi-discipline teams, projects, and support groups to ensure seamless execution,
+ Prepare control narratives and philosophy documents as well as shutdown key / cause and effect deliverables,
+ Design and review control systems, such as PLCs, SCADA and DCS,
+ Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and implement project specifications,
+ Assist in the commissioning and start-up of gas plants, compressor stations, pipelines and wellsites,
+ Develop and implement instrumentation strategies for process optimization,
+ Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project execution.
+ Ensure all systems comply with industry standards and regulations,
+ Implement safety protocols and conduct regular audits,
+ Maintain documentation for compliance and operational purposes.
+ Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements,
+ Present technical proposals, reports and updates to stakeholders,
+ Build and maintain strong client relationships.
•Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
+ Stay up to date with advancements in I&C technologies and natural gas processes,
+ Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction,
+ Drive innovation in control system design and implementation.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation and instrumentation, or related field,
•Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for P.Eng. registration,
•Minimum 15 years of experience in I&C engineering within the natural gas and LNG industry,
•Proven leadership and project management skills,
•Strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards and guidelines, including ASME B31.3/B31.8, API RP 500/505, ISA, CSA C22.1/Z662, ANSI, IEC, NFPA, CENELEC,
•Proficient in programming PLC, DCS, RTU and/or SCADA systems (ABB 800XA, Honeywell Experion/PKS, DeltaV, Allen-Bradley, etc.),
•Proficient in engineering software and engineering database programs (Microsoft Office, AVEVA, Elecdes, InTools / Smart Plant Instrumentation, etc.)

The salary for this role is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The estimated range is between $170,000 – $225,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
