JOB SUMMARY:
The Control Room Team Lead is responsible for daily planning, coordinating and over-all activities related to Distribution System Operations. Substantial interaction with internal and external customers as related to Distribution System Operations, including Field Operations, Water Treatment, Water Quality, Instrumentation and Control, Engineering, and Local Officials (Fire Departments). Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the water distribution system in providing continuous water supply of safe potable water to our customers in a manner that and supports RWA’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides support for the Director of Distribution Systems Operations.
2. Plan, direct and control the work of bargaining unit staff and outsourced service contractors and their staff.
3. Coordinates pump and motor testing quarterly with outside contractors.
4. Reviews the Dispatch Log/Trouble Reports on a daily basis to ensure optimum system performance. Report and follow up on any discrepancies.
5. Review daily Field Operations work schedule and coordinate flow of work as related to Distribution system operations.
6. Interacts with other internal departments or agencies outside of the organization as related to Distribution system operations.
7. Provides support for Managers and Team Leads in the department and execution of flushing, maintenance, repair and capital improvements to distribution facilities.
8. Coordinates with contractors in providing contract services, solicits and collects bids for new equipment and contracted maintenance work.
9. Analyzes distribution system operations daily; adjusts schedules and optimizes operations.
10. Processes invoices from various vendors, utilities and suppliers for payment.
11. Works with the Distribution Systems staff to analyzes utility usage for accuracy and anomalies; takes appropriate action to minimize pump power costs.
12. Coordinates schedules for bargaining unit staff.
13. Updates and maintains Distribution Department Operations databases. Collects and processes data for a variety of reports. Provides data and reports to other departments as requested.
14. Manages the Operations Teams Channel along with the documents, schedules, Smartsheets, and other items hosted on the channel.
15. Participates in the development of goals and objectives as well as effective practice guidelines to insure efficient and effective department functions and processes. Makes recommendations for changes to improve existing business processes; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
16. Participates in the preparation and administration of the department budget.
17. Provides Management Standby Coverage, and responds to call-outs for resolution of problems or emergencies.
18. Responds to inquiries regarding the Distribution System Operations activities.
19. Performs other duties as necessary to accomplish the strategic initiatives, mission, vision and values of the organization.
