Surveyor – Geospatial & Remote Sensing Support
The Surveyor supports the collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of geospatial and remote sensing data. This role involves traveling to a mine site in Dillon, MT as a drone pilot to collect survey and remote sensing data. Under the guidance of experienced Geomatics staff, the Surveyor assists with survey operations, cartography, data manipulation, geographic information analysis, and database management for all phases of blasting projects.
- Collect lidar and photogrammetric data using drones.
- Gather additional field data, including surveyed ground points.
- Process and analyze photogrammetric and lidar datasets.
- Compile spatial data from internal teams and external sources.
- Utilize geographic data from census records, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, ALTA surveys, and engineering documents.
- Perform quality assurance and control on geospatial data products.
- Provide requested information to support project teams.
- Assist survey staff by preparing support files.
- Conduct fieldwork in adverse weather conditions, including extensive walking over uneven terrain.
- Operate company vehicles for site visits and surveys, driving in varying weather and lighting conditions.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance as scheduled.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License.
- 1+ years of experience in drone-based data collection preferred. - 1+ years of experience with GIS/CAD software preferred. - 1+ years of traditional field survey experience preferred.- Blasting/Mine Engineering background preferred but not required.
- Ability to travel to Dillon, MT several days per week.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Field experience including drone-based data collection.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mentor/mentee team environment.
- Professional communication skills with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of survey practices and GPS equipment (Trimble or equivalent) preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings, as well as a background check.

- Anticipated base salary range: $30 – $40 per hour, depending on experience.
- 0–2 years of prior surveying experience.
- Basic understanding of land surveying and geometry.
- Interest in aerial drone technology, surveying, and blast design.
