Surface Planning Engineer

Overview:

The Surface Planning Engineer plans and designs the surface facilities for an oil and gas project. They work with a team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals to ensure that facilities are safe, efficient, and effective, meeting the needs of the company and its customers. The Surface Planning Engineer must have a strong understanding of oil and gas engineering and facility design. They must also be able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and technicians

Responsibilities:

- Plan and design surface facilities for oil and gas production, including well pads, gathering systems, processing equipment, and supporting infrastructure.

- Develop facility layouts, equipment specifications, and process designs that support safe and efficient operations.

- Collaborate with drilling, completions, production, and facilities teams to ensure surface designs meet operational requirements.

- Evaluate facility capacity requirements and recommend improvements or modifications to support production targets.

- Work with engineering, construction, and field teams during project execution to ensure facilities are installed according to design specifications.

- Review and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and facility schematics.

- Ensure compliance with company standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.

- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment selection and facility development.

- Support cost estimates, project planning, and facility optimization initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field.

- Experience in oil and gas surface facilities design, planning, or operations.

- Knowledge of surface production equipment such as separators, tanks, compressors, pumps, and gathering systems.

- Familiarity with engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.

- Strong understanding of oil and gas production systems and facility operations.

- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams, operations, and project stakeholders.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

- Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, MVR, fit for duty, and agility.
