Position Summary:
Our Supplier Planners act as the liaison between customers and suppliers and are the first point of contact. The Supplier Planner is responsible for managing and optimizing relationships with assigned suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials. This position reports directly to the Supplier Planner Coordinator and works closely with branch operations as well as other members of the FSP Operations and Purchasing division. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Serve as the primary contact for assigned suppliers, including leading recurring meetings as necessary.
•Place and schedule orders with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
•Monitor and manage the chase list by reviewing open orders and taking appropriate action.
•Expedite materials as needed and take appropriate action in case of shortage: gap buys and alternate requests. Log all activities for tracking purposes.
•Proactively check Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs)/create missing ASNs and address any errors to prevent warehouse issues upon receiving.
•Review supplier call-offs after MRP (Material Resource Planning) to address overordering or underordering.
•Follow up on supplier backlog to ensure timely resolution and maintain supply continuity.
•Collaborate closely with customer planner to obtain and relay information from the supplier side.
•Act as the point of contact for internal departments to facilitate smooth communication and address any supply-related concerns.
•Manage changes and implementations of items (Product Change Management, PCM) to ensure seamless integration.
•Optimize packaging and labelling processes at supplier locations to enhance efficiency and reduce traffic.
Qualifications:
•Master or minimum bachelor’s degree or equal experience required.
•2 to 3 years’ experience in material planning, in a dynamic environment. Automotive experience is a plus.
•Quantitative and analytical capabilities; ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex information and apply to practical situations.
•Strong understanding of procurement processes and inventory management.
•Excellent interpersonal skills; proven track record of building and maintaining relationships while maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.
•Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as experience working successfully in cross-functional teams; able to create and deliver effective presentations via multiple mediums to individuals as well as varied groups of people.
•Proven history of personal initiative, efficiency, attention to detail, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and performing quality work within deadlines with or without supervision.
•PC proficiency required, including MS Office. Knowledge of an ERP package as well as any other industry-specific software is a plus.
