Brief Description
Join our team for a hands-on technical internship where you’ll gain experience in
data analytics, engineering support, and control systemswithin a large-scale power generation facility. This role is designed for students pursuing degrees in
Computer Science, Electrical/Controls Engineering, or related technical fieldswho want exposure to real-world operations and sustainability-driven projects.
Key Responsibilities Data Analytics & Reporting
- Compile and analyze operational data to support performance reporting (including GADS compliance).
- Develop dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and SharePoint.
- Assist in trend analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency, reliability, and safety improvements.
- Assist with equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance planning.
- Support control system tasks such as DCS configuration checks, alarm management audits, and system backups.
- Participate in field projects, outages, and maintenance activities.
- Help organize technical documentation, update drawings, and maintain the technical library.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and technology upgrades.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Electrical/Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Power BI, SharePoint, and basic programming (SQL, Python, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Ability to work safely in a plant environment and adhere to PPE requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills.
Summary
This position combines office and plant-based tasks. Interns must be able to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, fall protection harness) and work around rotating equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required during outages or emergent situations.
Remote work is not available. HousingHousing will be provided for students who do not live in the area. Hallador Energy will furnish an apartment (or campus housing) and pay for basic utilities.
