About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-minded Substation Test and Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical substation equipment to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our power systems.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform regular inspections, tests and preventative maintenance on substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and control systems.

· Troubleshoot and repair faults or failures in electrical and mechanical components.

· Monitor and test equipment for proper functioning using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.

· Document maintenance activities, test results, and repairs accurately in maintenance records and reports.

· Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

· Assist with installation and commissioning of new substation equipment as needed.

· Respond to emergency call-outs for substation outages or equipment failures.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Minimum 2 years of experience in substation or electrical maintenance.

· Strong understanding of Substation Equipment and Test Equipment, schematics, and safety protocols.

· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.

· Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test instruments.

· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel to various substation sites as required.

· Must be able to pass a background check and a drug test.

· Must be able to operate the following test equipment:

o Hi-Pot

o Relay Tester

o Insulation Tester

o DLR

o Dielectric Test on Oil

o Power Factor

o Ductor

o Megger

o CT ration & saturation

· Must be familiar with:

o Megger

o Doble

o Vanguard

o Omicron

Physical Requirements

· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.

· Willingness to work on-call and overtime as needed.
