This is a full-time position and applicants should reside in Florida. Job sites are located in Central FL, Western FL, and/or North FL. We do not do work in Southern FL.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair substation equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, relays, capacitors, and circuit breakers).
- Perform inspections and diagnostic tests on electrical systems to detect malfunctions or potential failures.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues in electrical systems and perform corrective maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, maintenance logs, and equipment calibrations.
- Assist in the commissioning of new substations and upgrades of existing systems.
- Operate test equipment such as insulation testers and relay test sets.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, NESC, and company regulations.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for substation-related outages or issues.- 2+ years of experience working with high-voltage electrical systems, preferably in a utility or industrial setting.
- Due to security and safety concerns while working near electrical grids, background checks and drug testing are required pre- and during employment. A safe driving record is required, and a CDL license is a plus!
- OSHA 10/30 preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Must have current and continual authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and high-voltage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency in using test instruments and tools related to substation maintenance.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Skill in the use and care of all hand and shop tools, as well as any other equipment of the electrician trade.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Field-based work at substations.
- Exposure to high-voltage electrical equipment and loud noise.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
