OPPD is looking for a driven and safety¿focused Substation Electrician ¿ Helper to join our Energy Delivery team. In this hands¿on role, you¿ll work alongside experienced substation electricians to help build, maintain, and operate the substations and equipment that keep power flowing reliably to the communities we serve. You¿ll assist with constructing and commissioning substation components, supporting troubleshooting and repairs on essential equipment like transformers, breakers, and voltage regulators, and transporting materials to job sites. This role also prepares you to enter and progress through OPPD¿s Substation Electrician Apprentice Program your next step toward becoming an Electrician, First Class.

- Assist electricians in the construction, maintenance and operation of substation facilities to ensure reliable electrical service to OPPD customers.
- Assists in the construction of transmission and distribution substations by installing and commissioning equipment used for power delivery by OPPD. Work includes foundation installation, structural steel assembly, and general electrical construction.
- Assists in the maintenance of transmission and distribution substations by overhauling, troubleshooting, repairing and testing equipment of power equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, reclosers, and other equipment.
- Assists in the safe operation of transmission and distribution equipment used for power delivery by OPPD.
- Transports equipment and materials to and from worksites.
- Assists in the maintenance and operations of customer facilities and distribution facilities and equipment.
- Must be able to complete Substation Electrician Apprentice Program.
- A two-year Associates degree in electrical theory or completion of an electrical apprenticeship program, or 4 years of work as an electrician is required for this position.
- Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver¿s License (CDL) within six months after hire.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Must be capable of progressing to Electrician, First Class.
- Must be able to successfully pass background checks required to acquire access authorization for access to Offutt Air Force Base, etc.
- Reside within a 35-mile radius of the Substation and System Protection Office
