BGMU is seeking applicants for the position of
part-time Electric Engineering Intern. BGMU seeks to hire student(s) pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. With the assistance of BGMU employees, interns will acquire skills necessary to plan and design distribution system improvements, plan and coordinate substation maintenance and improvements, and manage projects related to the day-to-day operations of BGMU's Electric System. Duties associated with this position include:
- Assist BGMU's engineering personnel with design, staking, and inspection of overhead and underground power line extensions.
- Assists BGMU's engineering personnel with approval and inspection of small scale roof-top solar installations.
- Assist with data entry and management for the operation of BGMU's engineering analysis software.
- Assist BGMU substation personnel with testing to ensure safe and reliable operation of BGMU's substation infrastructure.
- Assist BGMU substation personnel with programming and coordination of electronic-protective equipment.
- Assist with data entry and management for the operation of BGMU's asset management software.
- Assists engineering personnel with power quality complaints.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, related plans, and construction specifications. Requires intermediate knowledge of electrical theory and mathematics. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work at all levels, with a focus on quality service to internal and external customers.
Minimum Requirements
- Sophomore and above undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Kentucky driver's license with demonstration of safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles.
- First Aid and CPR.
Physical Requirements
Must successfully pass BGMU's physical demands testing.
