The Student interns – Regulatory Services will assist and support in a variety of tasks that include, but not limited to research, data analysis, documentation, creation of outreach materials, and data management/clerical tasks.
- Assist in researching and updating pollution prevention best management practices (BMPs) on topics such as oil/water separators, mobile power washing, medical/pharmaceutical waste, and PFAS (Per‑ and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances).
- Support the development of outreach and educational materials for programs implemented by the Regulatory Services Division.
- Assist Industrial Investigators with field activities, including industrial wastewater sampling and facility inspections for regulatory compliance.
- Conduct research on PFAS sources and industrial/commercial source control; assist with PFAS‑related site visits and development of educational resources.
- Assist in creating spatial maps using existing data to highlight efficiencies and successes of Regulatory Services programs (e.g., Cross Connections, FOG, Industrial Discharge).
- Support digitization efforts, including scanning hardcopy files and reorganizing electronic and physical records.
Work is performed in the office with occasional field work.
Proficient in Microsoft WORD, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint.
Able to create tables, graphs and have basic data analysis knowledge
Ability to conduct independent research1+ year of college course work OR at least 30 college credits with the intent of pursuing an engineering or environmental sciences degree.
