Job Summary
Lead, plan, and deliver structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from contract award through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met. Act as the single point of accountability for project execution, client coordination, and cross‑functional team performance.
- Manage project lifecycle including contract review, scope definition, shop drawing and submittal review, fabrication oversight, logistics, erection coordination, and final closeout.
- Develop, maintain, and control project schedules and critical paths; proactively drive long‑lead procurement and production milestones.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, change orders, and progress billings; enforce cost controls and margin protection.
- Lead project meetings with owners, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and production teams to resolve technical, commercial, and sequencing issues.
- Review and coordinate drawings and specifications with detailers, engineers, and fabricators to ensure constructability and code compliance.
- Own quality assurance and inspection plans; ensure compliance with AISC, CSA, AWS, CWB, ASTM, RCSC, SEAA, local codes, and customer requirements.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers: qualification, scope alignment, purchase orders, performance tracking, and dispute resolution.
- Initiate and process RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, and field directives; maintain accurate project documentation and logs.
- Ensure site safety and environmental requirements are implemented and enforced; coordinate with safety officers and client programs (CCIP/OCIP where applicable).
- Mentor and coordinate discipline leads (estimating, detailing, QA/QC, field supervision) and provide clear handoffs to operations and erection teams.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, production constraints, and opportunities to optimize fabrication and erection workflows
- Minimum 5 years direct project management experience in structural steel fabrication and/or erection.
- Proven track record managing projects from $500K to multi‑million dollar values.
- Strong knowledge of steel detailing, fabrication processes, erection methods, and industry standards (AISC, CSA, AWS, CWB,RCSC).
- Proficient with construction and shop software (e.g., MS Project or Primavera, Bluebeam, Tekla/Advance Steel familiarity preferred, MS Office).
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and connection design intent.
- Excellent contract and change‑order management skills; comfortable negotiating with GC, owners, and suppliers.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to shop and project sites.
