Structural Materials Inc. is a local construction supply company. We are seeking a Store Manager to oversee daily operations of our sales floor, city desk, inside sales representatives, and small engine shop. This position ensures excellent customer service, strong product knowledge, efficient workflow, and a well-managed team. The Store Manager will lead employees, support sales initiatives, manage inventory oversight, and maintain a productive and safe working environment.
- Lead, coach, and support sales floor staff, city desk/inside sales representatives, and small engine shop employees.
- Set clear expectations and provide ongoing guidance, feedback, and accountability.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
- Foster a team-oriented, respectful, and positive work environment.
- Ensure consistent communication between departments for efficient workflow.
- Oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor and customer area.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock issues, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Support scheduling and workload distribution for the sales and shop teams.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards.
- Promote exceptional customer service to contractors, walk-in customers, and vendors.
- Assist inside sales reps with complex orders, quotes, and product inquiries.
- Manage escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships to support long-term business growth.
- Oversee workflow, communication, and expectations within the small engine repair shop.
- Promote a safe work environment in accordance with company, OSHA, and WSI guidelines.
- Assist with incident reporting and safety procedures as required.
- Ensure team members follow proper safety practices on the sales floor and in the shop.
- Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Monitor store performance and assist with meeting sales and profitability goals.
- Help manage labor, expenses, and resource allocation effectively.
- Review and verify documentation related to sales, repairs, and inventory processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional business or industry-related education preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in construction supply, building materials, retail hardware, or a related industry strongly preferred.- Solid understanding of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be proficient in using computers and learning company software.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
