The technical services department is a talented team of engineers that work on impactful projects essential to Cameco’s success. As a member of the technical services department, you will report to the chief engineer, mechanical, providing mechanical engineering and technical solutions for mining, milling and process controls problems.
- Perform various mechanical engineering and design tasks.
- Perform mechanical equipment (static and rotating) sizing, process piping, HVAC system analysis and sizing for capital and expense projects.
- Update and revise technical drawings, datasheets and reports.
- Perform mentoring and coaching of engineers and technologists.
- Be responsible for applying corporate policies, procedures, technical and safety codes/standards, and regulations (federal, provincial, corporate and SHEQ) in your day-to-day work.
- bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering;
- seven or more years of relevant industry experience;
- eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and professional engineers Ontario (PEO);
- experience in process vessels, atmospheric tanks, pumping, piping (process and power), building services piping, piping stress analysis, and developing technical specifications;
- experience in working with mechanical technologists in developing intelligent 3D process plant/ equipment designs and intelligent P&IDs/ schematics;
- knowledge of atmospheric vessels/tanks (API650/653), boiler and pressure vessel code (BPVC), CSA B51 boiler, pressure vessel, and pressure piping code, ASME B31.1 code, ASME B31.3 code, welding standards, and CSA B149 gas codes;
- solid understanding of MS office software, including proficiency in excel; and
- occasional travel to project sites in northern Saskatchewan and Ontario.
- experience with AutoCAD and/or mechanical analysis software;
- interest or experience in data driven smart 3D modelling, industrial automation, lean principles and value engineering;
- experience working as engineer of record for construction drawings and contracts;
- mentorship experience;
- strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills;
- surface and underground mining experience;
- experience with HVAC systems and process plant automation; and
- experience working with 3D laser scan point cloud data.
