About The Role
All progress begins with pioneers. At Rio Tinto, it begins with you.We are looking for a Specialist, Project Controls who is responsible for implementing effective project controls systems (estimating, planning and cost engineering) to forecast and monitor major and mega project costs.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor, Project Controls, this position is at the Lac de Gras Mine site. You will be working 12 hours per day on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule.
Working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be responsible for
- Supporting creation, maintenance and reporting on project forecast and other project controls data
- Identifying improvement opportunities for streamlining project controls work process
- Supporting development of project control accounts and budget
- Supporting setup and issuance of cost reports, including cost control curves
- Supporting development and implementation of contingency and change management procedures
- Supporting development of Final Forecast Cost (FFC) and proactive identification of risks and mitigation
- Supports compliance with standardized processes, systems and tools
- Manages relationship with project control stakeholders internally and with contracting partners
- Maintains relationships internally with procurement and estimating groups to ensure accuracy in current trends
- Proactively analyses and report budget and cost variations
- Provides technical support to project stakeholders
- Utilizes guidance and protocols for project controls in capital projects framework
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
- Strong safety mindset
- 3-5 years of project controls experience, performance tracking, cost tracking, forecasting, reporting
- Experience with earn value development and maintenance
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Proficiency in PowerBI and SAP
- Scheduling Experience with P6 is an asset
- Larger project/program experience (specifically demo or closure projects) is an asset
