We are currently seeking a Specialist, Logistics Solutions to join our Global Logistics team in Toronto.
This is a Fixed -term onsite position. (12 months)
As a Specialist, Logistics Solutions, you will be responsible for global logistics procurement for the Base Metals business, ensuring contracts support operational needs and competitive costs. It requires strategic negotiation, vendor development, and maintaining high service quality. The role also advances ESG goals by forming partnerships to reduce supply chain carbon emissions.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for logistics services, including rail, trucking, warehousing, marine container drayage, and freight forwarding.
- Conduct market research and due diligence to identify, evaluate, and develop cost-effective, reliable long-term logistics partners.
- Ensure procurement activities meet internal customer requirements and align with established goals, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for inbound and outbound logistics of Nickel and Copper products.
- Prepare RFP/RFQ packages and execute sourcing in line with industry best practices.
- Analyze proposals commercially and negotiate contract terms to minimize company risk and maximize value.
- Oversee vendor management throughout contract lifecycles, ensuring compliance and optimal performance.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong relationships with global vendors.
- Coordinate all jobs, contracts, and documentation with diligence and integrity, adhering to legal and company policies.
- Develop and manage reports, research, and administrative activities related to procurement and logistics.
- Analyze key performance indicators, identify bottlenecks, and drive process improvements.
- Resolve supply chain issues through data analysis and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Lead all activities during the sourcing cycle, including clarifications and addenda issuance.
- Review and evaluate proposals, negotiating prices and terms to benefit the organization.
- Create agreements with a clear understanding of scope and commercial structure.
- Conduct studies and map logistics alternatives, considering both existing infrastructure and new solutions for operational improvements and capacity increases.
- Lead negotiations with logistics service providers to secure optimal tariffs and service levels.
- Stay informed on global logistics infrastructure projects, trends, and opportunities to leverage best technical and economic resources.
- Remain knowledgeable about new technologies, equipment, and logistics assets to ensure project development meets quality, time, and cost objectives, engaging with national and international suppliers and partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 8- 10 years’ experience in relevant field
- Broad organizational skills gained through significant experience, seasoning and /or special development required.
- Broad-based understanding of economics, supply/demand and commodity markets/cycles as related to the mining industry.
- Extensive experience in outbound logistics, shipping, or supply chain management within the resource sector or a similar industry.
- Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, commercial and business acumen
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English. Portuguese is an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate personal initiative, ownership and accountability.
- Customer focused and highly collaborative.
- Good relating and sensemaking capabilities
