Freight Specialist

Position Overview

Freight Specialist will track inbound and outbound freight expenses, allocate freight charges to each load purchased or sold, process and pay freight bills and prepare month end reporting. This position reports to the Transactions Manager and works closely with the dispatch team.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Record freight expenses daily, identifying the expense related to each inbound or outbound transaction

- Enter freight invoices into the system and update all accrued freight expenses to actual cost at the time of billing

- Prepare and maintain detention analysis

- Assist the brokerage department in tracking and recording brokered transactions

- Prepare month-end allocation of accrued freight by division

- Other administrative related tasks

Requirements:

Job Requirements/Skills

- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word

- Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization

- Excellent organizational skills

- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

- Expected to maintain a high level of confidentiality

- Ability to work independently without direct supervision

- Must maintain impeccable attention to detail

Education/Experience

- High school diploma or GED

- 2+ years office/data entry position

Physical Requirements

- Office Environment. Utilizing an office desk-sitting, reading, listening or speaking with the ability to move intermittently throughout the day

- Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing and dexterity

- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones
