We are looking for an Electrical Specialist – Engineering & Maintenance who is responsible for the engineering, reliability, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems supporting continuous Smelting Operations. This role provides subject matter expertise across low, medium, and high voltage power systems, instrumentation, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial control systems, including Rockwell Automation (RS Logix / Studio 5000) and Emerson Delta V.
The position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical systems, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous process improvement in a high‑temperature, high‑power industrial environment.
Reporting to the Superintendent Electrical Maintenance and Engineering you will:
- Engineer, maintain, and troubleshoot low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, substations, and power distribution networks
- Lead diagnostics and corrective actions for power quality issues, arc‑flash risks, grounding, and protection coordination
- Troubleshoot, commission, and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) used in heavy industrial applications
- Maintain and troubleshoot field instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, flow, level, and analytical devices
- Troubleshoot and modify PLC‑based systems using RS Logix / Studio 5000 (Allen‑Bradley)
- Support Emerson DeltaV DCS, including control logic configuration, I/O troubleshooting, and loop tuning
- Investigate recurring failures and lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts
- Promote and enforce electrical safety practices, including LOTO, arc‑flash mitigation, and energized work procedures
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in heavy industrial or smelting environments
- Experience with:
- Low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Industrial instrumentation
- PLC troubleshooting using RS Logix / Studio 5000
- Emerson Delta V distributed control systems
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical one‑lines, schematics, loop diagrams, and control narratives
