Job Summary
The Mechanical Source Inspector is responsible for performing independent source inspections at supplier and manufacturer facilities to verify compliance with
Saudi Aramco requirements, applicable
API/ASME/ASTM standards, approved drawings, ITPs, and purchase order requirements. The role follows
API Source Inspector (SI) principlesto ensure materials and equipment meet contractual, technical, and quality requirements before release.
This role requires inspectors who are willing to complete the
Saudi Aramco qualification and approval process.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform source inspections in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, and Aramco Inspection Requirements.
- Verify material compliance, traceability, certification (MTCs), and heat/lot control.
- Witness and verify manufacturing, fabrication, machining, welding, heat treatment, NDT, dimensional inspection, pressure testing, and coating activities, as applicable.
- Review and verify compliance to applicable API, ASME, ASTM, ISO, and Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES/SAMSS).
- Confirm calibration status of inspection and measuring equipment.
- Identify and report non-conformances; verify corrective actions and closure.
- Review and endorse inspection reports, release notes, and manufacturing records.
- Maintain professional independence, ethics, and objectivity in line with API SI Code of Conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–10 years of mechanical inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of API Source Inspector (SI) Body of Knowledge.
- Experience inspecting valves, piping, pressure vessels, forgings, castings, skids, and machined components (as applicable).
- API Source Inspector (SI) – Strongly preferred
- Saudi Aramco project experience – Highly desirable
- NDT Level II (PT/MT/UT/RT) – Advantage, if applicable
Saudi Aramco / Prima Qualification Requirements
Candidates must be willing to complete the Saudi Aramco qualification process.
