As the Sales & Marketing Manager, your primary objective is to help develop, lead and drive the sales and marketing team, strategies, and programs, providing exceptional customer education and service while meeting the company’s sales targets.
Reporting to our Managing Director, the Sales and Marketing Manager will oversee the sales and marketing teams, develop new strategies, and make data-driven decisions as we grow our organization’s sales and marketing efforts to scale.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Departmental Oversight:
Assist CEO overseeing everything related to services and products sold by the company. This currently includes but is not limited to: Commercial and Residential Solar PV, Battery and Generator systems, and EV-Charging stations. Ensure Leads are evenly distributed among sales team, taking into consideration both availability & potential value of sale, based on initial discussions.
Performance Management & Reporting:
•Develop, maintain and present sales, marketing, and departmental budgetary and performance spreadsheets and reports.
•Compile and analyze sales and operational records and reports.
•Use data-driven insight to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify and prioritize new markets and sales and marketing opportunities.
Product & Pricing Management:
•Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices and products, and keep team educated of changes in advance of being impacted by those changes
•Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company's products and services, to be able to support team members, and ensure everyone has needed materials to support sales of all products.
•Conduct product research and help determine best pricing, and applications for selecting one product over another
•Maintain and update Vital product and service pricing to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
•Regularly analyze, update and present product pricing, deals and offering in weekly meetings. Weekly, monthly and/or quarterly Hot Sheet.
Interdepartmental Communications:
•Serves as the go-to person for all Sales or Marketing related activities, both internally and externally.
Team Meetings:
•Leads daily huddles with both Sales Team, and the Sales Coordinator team responsible for scheduling the Sales Team, to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded; and that all sales team members are being treated equally in regard to distribution of Leads.
•Works with Operations and Project Development teams to ensure we are on track to meet sales targets.
•Senior Manager Meetings: Provides Sales and marketing team and departmental current and forecasted metrics and plan to meet goals. If targets not being met, strategies and solutions to be prepared for presentation to the CEO.
SALES MANAGEMENT
Sales Coordination Team Management:
•Actively participates in specific sales efforts and strategies.
•Establish and oversee sales quotas, territories, and performance of direct reports
•Drive, support and motivate sales team to meet sales goals.
•Assist with development of sales team hiring strategy and departmental structure.
•Accomplishes marketing and sales staffing objectives by assisting with recruiting, selecting, training and coaching all team members.
•Support and help develop and enforce policies and procedures.
Training & Development:
•Fosters a culture of consultative selling to decision-makers at all levels.
•Assist CEO with coaching team members to build effective skills, knowledge, and relationships that enable them to respond quickly to emerging customer opportunities, and provide for seamless execution of the company's business processes that exceed customer expectations.
•Assist with development and implementation of sales and training/educational programs, processes and procedures.
Set & Meet Sales and Lead Generation Targets:
•Works with leadership to set the company’s monthly, quarterly and annual sales revenue target. Works with each Energy Consultant in order to set their individual sales targets.
Sales Pipeline Management:
•Continuously monitors CRM software lead status to ensure full calendars of energy consultants;
MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Business Development: Collaborate with senior executives to develop growth plans for the organization.
•Oversee lead generation, using multi-channel lead sourcing and product marketing.
Marketing: Develop and implement a content marketing strategy with marketing team that builds and maintains a positive brand and measurable increased lead flow.
•Oversees all marketing and business development opportunities, plans, strategies, campaigns and budgets, strategizing with Executives to ensure alignment
•Directs and implements the organization’s advertising and promotional activities including social media efforts, website content, advertising, media content, print ads/flyers, swag, promotional item, print ads, etc.
•Helps develop effective marketing systems, processes and procedures.
•Partner with the marketing team to host events, and execute promotional activities and presentations.
•Oversees, reviews and approves all marketing team activity
Prospecting: Seeks out and targets new customers and new sales opportunities, initiates action plan to approach and secure new business for the Company.
Strategic Analysis: Routinely assesses effectiveness of strategic planning for sales and marketing efforts; adjusts plans in response to current and projected market conditions.
Negotiation: Actively seeks out and negotiates relationships that bring Vital needed lead generation, financing options, and development opportunities.
Core Requirements:
•5+ years experience selling solar or equivalent sales and product expertise, 3 of which must be commercial solar.
•5+ years’ experience leading a sales team and sales and marketing management, ideally in a small-to-medium sized renewable energy or construction firm that required you to work cross-departmentally.
•Competency in basic office systems (Google, PowerPoint, GSheets/Excel) and sales focused CRMs (Salesforce, etc.) and software platforms.
•Possess strong knowledge related to the technology, terminology and economics of renewable energy transactions.
•Outstanding communication skills: written, verbal, phone, and listening.
•A history of successful solution selling expertise, and the ability to train our team members on this methodology.

Education And Experience
•Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. However, we are open to extensive management experience in solar in lieu of a degree.
•5+ years of experience in marketing, business development and long-range planning required.
•Experience with lead funnel management
•Experience with social media, pay-per-click (PPC) and SEO marketing strategies (Google, Yelp and Facebook )
•Experience with email marketing (MailChimp, etc)
•Experience with B2B and B2C marketing preferred
•Past history generating new revenue and implementing business development strategies.
•Experience converting generated leads to qualified leads.
•Experience with marketing automation.
•Past experience building, growing, and developing a company to scale.
