The Software Developer I will assist in the integration of core software systems to enhance external and internal customer experiences. This role will operate at a corporate level.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the underlying middleware software that powers EPB’s customer-facing internal applications and websites.
- Learn to write solid, efficient, and readable code.
- Participate in department scrum meetings to learn software and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to the progress of the team in an efficient manner.
- Assist in performing root cause analysis (RCA) and learn how systems are integrated.
- Assist with documentation of supporting knowledge architecture and standards.
- Perform after-hours support duties as needed to sustain systems, software, and customer-impacting internal tools– 24/7/365.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Database and SQL experience.
- Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Java preferred.
- Knowledge of REST and Soap based web services preferred.
- Knowledge of how to document components of the software development life cycle (designs, testing plans, etc.) preferred.
- Received a “Meets Expectations” or higher overall rating on last annual performance appraisal and no disciplinary actions (verbal or written) during previous appraisal period.
