Shop Technician

Job Duties/Responsibilities.

- Performs independent, routine, or repetitive assignments using a variety of simple techniques and standard work procedures.

- Follow detailed written procedures and technical drawings

- Troubleshooting of equipment to identify/diagnose problems

- Equipment tear down, repair and reassembly using hand and air tools, hand tools, and precision measurement equipment

- Maintain excellent housekeeping

- Counting inventory

- Operate forklifts, handcarts, dollies, pallet jacks and overhead cranes

- Ability to travel to remote job site locations as needed

- Participation in the rotational on-call schedule

- Active participation in FET’s HSE program.

Skills/Knowledge

- Basic knowledge of hydraulics & mechanics

- Must have a mechanical aptitude

- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

- Good communication and comprehension skills (verbally and written)

- Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve independently

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to change direction

- Capable to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.

Education

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good driver’s abstract required.

Experience

- 3+ years’ experience in a mechanical based role

- Forklift and/or Reach truck experience and certification preferred

- Experience related to hydraulics preferred, but not required

- Prior experience with service/drilling rigs considered an asset.
