The Sales Technician is responsible for promoting and selling the company’s chemical products, providing technical support to customers, and ensuring proper application and usage of products. This role bridges technical expertise with customer relationship management to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction.
Indoors and Outdoors, with driving involved. Employees could be faced with working in temperature extremes. Employees must be able to lift and carry 100 pounds, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude helpful. Use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, gloves, and H2S monitor as required or needed.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in assigned territories or sectors (e.g., manufacturing, water treatment, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals).
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers to increase repeat sales and market share.
- Meet or exceed sales targets through proactive selling and account management.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to clients.
- Provide technical assistance on product selection, application, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct site visits and audits to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Assist customers in product trials, performance testing, and optimization.
- Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and customer feedback.
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, activity reports, and market analysis for management.
- Work closely with R&D and production teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Train customers and internal staff on product features, benefits, and safety procedures.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or related field.
- Oil & Gas experience preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in sales or technical roles within the chemical industry (industrial, specialty, or commodity chemicals).
- Strong knowledge of chemical products, applications, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and industrial plants.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
