Overview:
This position supports the maintenance and repair of gas compression equipment through a rotational schedule between field and shop locations. The technician will work a 2-week rotation performing PM and Major Maintenance in the Permian Basin, followed by 2 to 4 weeks based out of the Kilgore Shop supporting shop operations, rebuilds, and additional maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM), Major Maintenance (MM), and Overhauls both in the field and in the shop.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues across a variety of compressor configurations.
- Fabricate and install piping, including screw pipe and stainless-steel tubing.
- Accurately complete and submit required service documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate in a rotating work schedule:
- 2 weeks field-based PM/MM in the Permian Basin
- 2–4 weeks shop-based support at the Kilgore location
- Follow all Nova Compression Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and applicable regulations at all times.
- Wear required PPE and meet medical and physical requirements related to PPE use, including respiratory protection.
- Perform all essential job functions with increasing independence and quality.
- Communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
- Use basic computer systems including Outlook and Internet Explorer.
- Follow safety protocols and site-specific procedures.
- Flexibility to work overtime and adjust to schedule changes as required.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Basic electronics knowledge preferred.
- Familiarity with HSE practices in both field and shop environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Formal gas/diesel engine and compressor training preferred.
- Proven mechanical experience with gas compression equipment.
- Field experience with PM/MM activities and shop experience with rebuilds and repairs is highly desirable.
- Must supply and maintain personal basic hand tools.
- May act as a mentor to less experienced technicians.
- Fit for duty and capable of performing physical tasks related to equipment maintenance.
- Must meet medical requirements for PPE, including respiratory protection.
- Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 95 lbs.
- Able to bend, kneel, twist, crawl, and climb ladders or stairs.
- Must have adequate vision and manual dexterity for detailed work.
- Apply practical problem-solving skills within established guidelines.
- Suggest improvements in processes or tools to enhance performance and safety.
- Timeliness and accuracy directly impact operational performance and customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for ensuring service quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Clear procedures and direction provided; adherence to company policies and procedures required.
- Works under direct supervision during the initial Short Service Employee (SSE) period (typically 1–3 months).
