Position Summary:
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production and delivery. This role ensures that production goals are met, quality standards are upheld, and resources are managed efficiently. The Shop Manager plays a key role in fostering a positive and safe work environment, promoting team development, and driving continuous improvement.
Role and Responsibilities
Communication and Reporting
•Facilitate clear and consistent communication between production, delivery, sales, and management teams.
•Develop, adjust, and communicate production schedules to meet customer demands while balancing efficiency and capacity constraints.
•Track and report on production performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and addressing challenges proactively.
•Ensure effective use of production planning tools and documentation processes, adhering to established expectations and guidelines.
•Coordinate delivery planning and execution, ensuring timely and efficient completion of all customer orders.
Resource Management
•Oversee labor allocation, equipment usage, and material resources to achieve production goals while controlling costs.
•Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production flow and minimize waste.
•Coordinate with purchasing and inventory teams to maintain stock levels and support project timelines.
Quality Control
•Establish, implement, and maintain quality control processes to ensure all products meet or exceed established quality standards.
•Monitor lead times and production output to align with customer expectations and operational goals.
•Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly.
Team Leadership
•Supervise, train, and motivate shop team members and delivery drivers to foster a collaborative and results-driven environment.
•Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and set clear expectations for individual and team performance.
Health and Safety
•Enforce safety protocols and workplace regulations to maintain a safe and compliant environment for all employees and visitors.
•Promptly investigate and report shop and delivery-related accidents, ensuring corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications
•Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a production management or leadership role, preferably in custom cabinetry or woodworking.
•An understanding of cabinet manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment is preferred.
•Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and practices, including OSHA standards.
•Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on collaboration and employee development.
•Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
•Proficient in production scheduling, resource management, and quality control processes.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
•Familiarity with industry tools and software, including inventory management and production planning systems.
•Must have an approved driving record, valid driver’s license, and meet insurability standards.
•Must have an approved background check.
•Must maintain a substance-free working environment.
