Shop Assistant

Performs various department tasks to assist department operators including preparing raw material and managing waste material. Responsible for maintaining clear isle ways. Work on assignments that vary in nature where attention to detail is critical including lot control.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

- Responsible for preparing raw materials for production machines

- Measure size of material, inspect bar straightness, and chamfer bar ends

- Maintain/organize material flow from inventory to machine work stations

- Sort and deburr finished machined parts

- Attention to detail required

- Sorting raw materials and notifying purchasing of non-conforming lots

- Clean machine exterior surfaces

- Enter material into inventory

- Issue material

- Cross-trained in receiving as a secondary responsibility

Required Skills:

- Use fork lift and other machinery when working/moving product

- Basic knowledge on using calipers and micrometers a plus

- Attention to detail reading job travelers

- Ability to communicate successfully with others

- Able to work independently in a team environment

- Must be able to read and understand training materials and safety instructions in English

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
