The Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and recording all incoming materials and supplies essential to plant operations. This role ensures shipments meet quality and quantity requirements, maintains organized storage and staging areas, and supports efficient material flow throughout the facility. The Receiving Clerk works closely with Purchasing, Production, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are available when needed while upholding strict safety and inventory control standards. This position is critical to maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting overall operational efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming and outgoing shipments, including materials, components, supplies, and parcels.
Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and delivery documents; document and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality concerns to Purchasing, Quality, or the appropriate department.
Accurately record received materials and shipments in the ERP or inventory management system in a timely manner.
Label, route, and transport received materials to appropriate storage locations, production lines, or internal departments; communicate deliveries to requesters as needed.
Prepare, package, and process outgoing shipments accurately, ensuring proper documentation and on-time dispatch.
Maintain organized and clearly labeled receiving, storage, and shipping areas in compliance with company policies and safety requirements.
Perform cycle counts, regular inventory counts, and assist with inventory audits to support ongoing inventory accuracy and control.
Monitor inventory levels of frequently used items and communicate replenishment needs to Purchasing or Inventory Control.
Assist with resolving receipt discrepancies, vendor returns, or follow-up issues as required.
Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with site protocols.
Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of heavy loads, hazardous materials, or controlled items.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to receiving, shipping, material flow, warehouse operations, and inventory accuracy.
2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
Knowledge of inventory management software (SAP) is a plus.
Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures in a maintenance or warehouse environment.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Able to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
