The Service Mechanic is responsible for Commercial Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Service operations, effectively and efficiently completing the services and repairs in the field and shop environments.
- Requires general knowledge of diesel or gas engines, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components.
- Ability to perform required PM services across a broad range of equipment in both field and shop.
- Ability to provide repair recommendations and perform minor service repairs in both field and shop to primarily trucks and trailers.
- Knowledge of Wheel end & air brakes, Air & electrical systems, A/C, clutch & driveline, PTO, suspension, tires, etc.
- Work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Complete job within an accurate and timely manner
- Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision
- General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
- Complete and submit accurate and timely service reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate with drivers/supervisors and coordinate PM service schedules to meet needs
- CDL not required, but helpful
- Perform other various duties and activities as assigned by supervisor
- Prior experience working on heavy duty equipment required
- Must have clean driving record (MVR)
- Must have the applicable knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations as required for operation of commercial motor vehicles
