In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:

- Guiding the evolution of planning processes, tools, and practices to align with future needs and community and stakeholder expectations.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the state-of-the-art on transmission technologies, best practices related to transmission planning and integrated resource planning, and assist in bringing relevant external trends and practices to IESO’s planning.

- Participate in economic evaluation of different options for meeting reliability needs as a transmission planning subject matter expert.

- Manage the work of external consultants acquired to support planning activities.

- Act as a subject matter expert to other departments and/or business units on matters related to transmission planning and emerging transmission technologies.

Recently, this position was instrumental in the success of the recent Long-term 2 Request for Proposal (RFP), successfully guiding the sector on where transmission capacity exists to site Energy (Wind, Solar) and Capacity (Battery, Gas) resources, and performing deliverability studies to inform contract awards. In parallel, this position lead a comprehensive review of Ontario’s Bulk Power System; performing steady-state and dynamic stability assessments for hundreds of thousands of scenarios to ensure the system is adequate to supply load five years into the future and to identify actions needed for the ten year horizon.
