Senior Transmission Line Engineer, Energy

Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering and construction oversight on transmission, substation and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV.

Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S.

And now, Welty Energy is looking for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our team! As a Senior Transmission Line Engineer, you will lead the technical review process for our client(s)’s transmission line projects ensuring compliance is met in line with client standards and expectations.

While this position can be remote the hired team member is to be based in the state of OH, VA, WV, MD, PA (currently). Relocation and sponsorship is unfortunately not provided at this time.

Day to day, you may:

- Conduct technical review of high voltage transmission line designs (34kV – 500kV).

- Perform analysis/modeling of wood, steel, and lattice structures.

- Prepare construction plan documents as required per project.

- Perform QA/QC reviews of all work product.

- Assist with the preparation of proposals.

- Interface with client’s engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates.

- Perform site visits when necessary.

- Take a lead role in growing the Welty Energy Transmission Line Engineering team.

- Mentor and assist in the professional development of junior engineering staff.

- Provide technical assistance tot he Welty Energy Project Management Team.

- Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President.

What we require:

- Bachelor’s degree in civil or electrical engineering at an ABET accredited university is preferred.

- 6-10+years of experience as a Transmission Line Engineer well versed in design engineering of high voltage transmission lines(34kV – 500kV).

- PE license advantageous.

- Comfortable with Travel: 15-20% travel (project specific).

- Collaborate with the Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.

- Ability to travel to meetings and project locations (10-20% as an average).
