As the Senior Project Engineer, Tilbury LNG Storage Expansion (TLSE), you will provide engineering oversight and technical leadership across the delivery of a major LNG expansion program. You will be accountable for coordinating and overseeing the work of engineering consultants, procurement teams, and construction contractors throughout the full project lifecycle. This includes scope development, regulatory and permitting activities, detailed engineering, and execution support, ensuring alignment with program objectives and FortisBC standards.

The Tilbury Program is a portfolio of major capital projects designed to significantly increase LNG storage and liquefaction capacity at FortisBC’s Tilbury Island LNG facility. These projects will strengthen the resiliency of FortisBC’s gas system, support energy security for the Lower Mainland, and enable customers to reduce their carbon footprint by advancing LNG as a lower carbon alternative to diesel or bunker fuel in marine and industrial applications.

In this role, you will:

- Provide technical oversight of engineering contractors, monitoring deliverables, schedules, and design progression of LNG major projects

- Manage RFIs, decision registers, cost and schedule inputs, and project tracking tools at the program level

- Ensure design development meets project scope, regulatory requirements, and FortisBC engineering standards

- Drive alignment to key milestones and deadlines across engineering consultants, internal teams, and external stakeholders

- Oversee the design and layout of major facilities and infrastructure, ensuring integration across disciplines

- Provide regular status updates on engineering progress, risks, and deliverables to the Project Manager and the LNG Projects Engineering Manager

- Prepare bi-weekly or monthly engineering progress reports, as required

- Develop and manage scoping documents (e.g., DBMs, Scopes of Work) for consultants across different phases of the project lifecycle

- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and regulatory teams to identify risks, resolve technical challenges, and implement solutions

- Maintain visibility of ongoing engineering activities and interfaces across the broader Tilbury LNG Program

- Establish and refine engineering workflows, processes, and execution strategies suitable for a major project environment

- Lead resolution of complex technical and design issues

- Build strong, collaborative relationships to effectively manage interfaces between multiple stakeholders and project teams

What it takes:

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada

- 10–15 years of experience delivering oil and gas capital projects; LNG experience is a strong asset

- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a relevant field

- Hands on field experience supporting LNG, NGL, or oil and gas facilities

- Demonstrated experience working in a major project environment (e.g., LNG plant, refinery, gas processing facility)

- Proven ability to work within large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams

- Experience coordinating regulatory and permitting aspects of major capital projects

- Strong analytical and computational skills

- Extensive experience with engineering design processes and execution of large-scale facilities projects

- A strong track record delivering facility projects with deep understanding of interfaces across engineering, procurement, construction, pre commissioning, and commissioning/start up support

- Excellent technical writing skills, including development of specifications, procedures, and scopes of work

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams

- High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment

- Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking capabilities

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
