We are seeking an experienced Senior Mineral Processing Engineer to provide technical leadership across proposal development, process design, and execution support. This role is ideal for a senior mineral processing professional who enjoys mentoring engineers, owning process solutions, and working closely with Sales and Project teams to deliver optimized, commercially competitive flowsheets.
This position can be based in Vancouver, BC.
As the Senior Mineral Process Engineer, you will be the technical authority for mineral processing applications during the proposal and pre-project phases, while also supporting execution teams through fabrication, commissioning, and start-up. You will lead a team of process engineers and ensure that Westpro’s process designs are technically sound, practical to operate, and aligned with customer objectives.
You will play a critical role in balancing metallurgical performance, equipment selection, constructability, operability, and cost.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mineral Processing Engineers
- Act as the senior technical reviewer for process designs, mass balances, flowsheets, and equipment selections
- Ensure process solutions are optimized for recovery, throughput, operability, and lifecycle cost
- Maintain consistency with Westpro process standards, design philosophies, and best practices
- Support Sales and Proposal teams by translating customer requirements into clear, competitive process solutions
- Review RFQs and bid specifications, clarifying technical scope and risks
- Engage directly with customers to explain process concepts, equipment selections, and trade-offs
- Collaborate with vendors and OEMs to validate equipment performance and pricing
- Provide technical support to Engineering, Project Management, and Production teams during detailed design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up
- Participate in site commissioning, performance testing, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Prepare technical reports and site documentation following commissioning activities
- Stay current with advancements in mineral processing technologies and equipment
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Westpro’s process tools, standards, and training materials
- Represent Westpro at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical forums
- Deliver internal and customer-facing training on mineral processing equipment and process flows
You are a technically strong mineral processing professional with leadership experience and the confidence to own process solutions from concept through commissioning.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
- Degree in Mineral Processing Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in mineral processing operations, engineering, or technology development
- Proven experience developing mass balances, flowsheets, and equipment selections for crushing, grinding, classification, gravity separation, flotation, thickening, and filtration circuits
- Strong understanding of mineral processing equipment performance and operating principles
- Experience supporting commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical personnel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including mass balance modeling), Word, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and decision-making capability
