We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Senior Geologist. Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out position and will be based in Labrador West, NL. This position will require candidates to work a Monday-Friday schedule.
Job Responsibilities:
•Grading Blasts including importing/exporting data , reviewing and identifying MgO/possible fiber, creating Polygons/Assays and Map Files, exporting Engineer files/mini block model, and importing into dispatch/provision .
•Update and maintain Grade Control Model. This will include a monthly update of mini models/resource data through scripts.
•Maintain the Vulcan (ISIS) database. This will include importing/exporting data and performing QA/QC checks.
•Scripting (Lava/Python) experience.
•Oversee the Provision system for shovels/loaders. This includes importing dig limits, cleaning up and maintaining blasts, creating alarms, and marking misfires/lost bits/steels as required.
•Support dispatch and Grade Control as required Stockpiles/Roads/Blasts.
•Oversee and manage duplicate program for QA/QC of drillhole sampling. Weekly updates and monthly reporting.
•Monthly and yearly reconciliation of the models, dispatch, and actual mill feed.
•Contact and project manager for consultant work including, diamond drilling, geo/hydro studies, condemnation planning, dump stability, and more.
•Mapping Lithology units. Chlorite/Mica to be remodeled with diamond drilling. Update shape files as required.
•Train and mentor others as required.
•Total awareness of mine safety conditions, whether at road, dump, or face and immediately intervening/reporting of deficiencies (see it, own it mentality).
•Ensure that all safety standards, policies, and procedures are being followed in areas present, including compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mining Regulations and policies of other regulatory agencies.
•Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
•Knowledge of all facets of the mining industry, including measurement and operations safety management and environmental regulations.
•Strong PC skills, proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD or other mine planning software programs (Vulcan).

Working Conditions:
•This position is a mixture of field work and office duties. Field work will be conducted daily throughout the year so exposure to the elements (rain, snow, cold, heat, etc) is to be expected. The office duties will require work in front of a laptop, desk, and phone. The position requires periodic contact with Dispatch and Mill Technical Services during off-hours.
Education & Experience:
•B. Sc. In Earth Sciences (Geology)
•5-10 years experience in a technical role in a mining environment
License:
