About the Job:
Coeur Rochester, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining, Inc., is seeking a Senior Mine Geologist for its open pit Rochester Silver-Gold Mine, located northeast of Lovelock, Nevada. Reporting to Superintendent Geology, the Senior Geologist will provide strategic input and decision making for ore control, pit mapping, geometallurgy and geotechnical monitoring program.
This is an 8/6 rotational role with one day overlapping with cross shift.
Responsibilities:
•Assume a key role in the Rochester Mine Geology Department, including leading Ore Control programs and supporting Geometallurgical and Geotechnical studies and work programs.
•Monitor and implement ore control systems and mine geology activities.
•Build geologic and ore control resource models to support mining.
•Logging blast holes and daily shovel advances (dig faces) monitoring for geological, alteration and hardness models evaluation.
•Coordinate with Mine Engineering and Operations team on short, medium, and long-range plans.
•Coordinate with laboratories (both internal and external) for necessary test programs to support operational decisions.
•Provide assistance to prepare weekly & monthly geology reports.
•Perform strenuous physical activities such as walking on un-even shot muck and ability to lift 40lb samples.
•Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company’s safety and environmental policies.
Qualifications:
•Bachelors of Science in geology or equivalent earth sciences degree.
•Five years of progressive mining industry experience, with minimum 3 years as a mine geologist at a hard rock, metals mine.
•Strong academic and applied background in structural geology and epithermal Au-Ag systems.
•Proficient with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
•Proficient with database software - acQuire experience preferred
•Proficient with GIS software – ArcGIS experience preferred.
•Proficient with Geologic Modeling software – Vulcan or Leapfrog experience preferred.
•Ability to collect field data and integrate into 3D interpretation of complex mineralized systems.
•Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
•Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature and flexible.
•Ability to work in multiple-task environment and properly assign priorities.
•Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but able to recognize and support organization's priorities and preferences.
