POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Director of M&A will lead and manage the M&A team, driving acquisitions and overseeing the full deal cycle from origination to transaction close. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in renewable energy, particularly in solar and storage, and a proven track record in M&A. The ideal candidate will act as a player-coach, managing a team of originators and transaction professionals while actively participating in deal execution. The primary focus will be on storage assets across DG and utility scale, while balancing community solar and traditional C&I DG assets
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Lead M&A Strategy: Develop and implement M&A strategies to support the company's growth objectives in the renewable energy sector.
•Deal Origination: Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, including standalone storage assets and community solar projects.
•Due Diligence: Oversee comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial, legal, and operational assessments.
•Negotiation: Lead negotiations of definitive agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.
•Transaction Management: Manage the entire deal lifecycle, from initial contact to transaction close, ensuring timely and successful deal execution.
•Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of originators and transaction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
•Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, legal advisors, and financial institutions.
•Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
•Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on deal progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Education: Bachelor degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
•Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in renewable energy, with a focus in M&A, particularly solar (community solar) and storage (DG and utility scale).
•Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•Technical Skills: Proficiency in project development processes, with a demonstrated understanding of key required milestones for Developers.
•Underwriting: Experience in underwriting renewable energy projects, including financial modeling and risk assessment. In-depth knowledge of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and due diligence processes.
•Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully closing complex transactions.
•Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
•Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the renewable energy market, including regulatory and policy frameworks.
•Network: Established network within the renewable energy industry, including relationships with developers, investors, and financial institutions.
•Reporting: Proficiency in communicate concise summaries to senior management and presentation of deal prospectus to internal investment committee.
•Travel: Willingness to travel as required for deal origination and execution.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
