Position Summary:
As a Senior Buyer at Pierce Aluminum, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing aluminum products and materials, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods to meet production schedules. This is a strategic role that requires an in-depth understanding of the aluminum industry, strong negotiation skills, and a solid background in supply chain management. You will work closely with internal teams to maintain inventory levels, control costs, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develop and execute sourcing strategies for aluminum products and raw materials to meet production and business requirements.
•Manage supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and timely delivery of materials.
•Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, trends, and opportunities in the aluminum industry.
•Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing.
•Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and work to improve supplier quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
•Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements in all vendor contracts and agreements.
•Maintain optimal inventory levels of aluminum products and materials in line with production needs and demand forecasts.
•Collaborate with the inventory and production teams to monitor stock levels, reorder points, and lead times.
•Oversee the ordering process, ensuring that all purchases align with project timelines and production schedules.
•Cost Control & Budget Management:
•Implement strategies to reduce costs while maintaining product quality and reliability.
•Track and report on spending patterns, vendor performance, and purchasing trends.
•Cross-Functional Collaboration:
•Work closely with the production, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure material availability and resolve supply chain issues.
•Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that all purchased materials meet the required specifications and standards.
•Provide support to internal teams with procurement information and insights to improve operational efficiency.
•Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
•Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for senior management.
•Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, APICS) are a plus.
•5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on aluminum or metals.
•Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong understanding of aluminum manufacturing processes, market trends, and supply chain dynamics.
•Strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Proficient in procurement software and tools (ERP systems, Excel, etc.).
•Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
•In-depth knowledge of inventory management, purchasing processes, and cost control strategies.
