RCMT Energy Services is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Engineer for High Voltage Substation Control Systems to join its team in Mississauga, ON Canada.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of engineering and design of protection and control systems with minimal guidance from other experienced engineers and must be both willing and able to provide guidance to other engineers and designers.
Projects may include travel to client sites as needed to perform job functions at existing facilities such as, but not limited to, acquiring field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design.
· Provide engineering overview, expertise and directions on the project and perform quality reviews of engineering deliverables such as design and support substation control systems and automation architecture.
· Preparation of Protection Relay Setting and Configuration files (GE UR relays, SEL, ABB, Siemens IED devices, etc.)
§ Communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus)
§ Substation network architecture and design (LAN, fiber, redundancy)
· Engineer SCADA communication interfaces between RTUs, IEDs, and SCADA master stations
· Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of protection and control systems
· Troubleshoot control, SCADA, RTU, and communication issues during commissioning
· Ensure compliance with utility standards and project specifications
· Create and/or provide directions for the preparation of HMI programing and configuration, architectural network configuration, RTU configuration, telecommunications, networking, SCADA communication and interface engineering.
· Must have a bachelor’s degree (BS or BE) in Electrical Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
· Must have a P.Eng. License in Canada.
· 10(+) years of experience in Protection and Control of the High Voltage Substations.
· Comprehensive understanding of key principles of electrical power system protection and controls including metering, communication, and networks.
· Familiarity with IEC 61850, SCADA, DNP3, MODBUS, and RTU protocols.
· Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office software products.
· Basic knowledge of CADD software (AutoCAD and MicroStation and their related products)
· Must demonstrate ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making.
· The candidate must have a strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients, equipment vendors and construction contractors.
· Must have the ability to be flexible and work with competing priorities.
· To be Canadian Permanent Resident or to hold a valid work permit for work in Canada.
· Working knowledge Cyber security in a high voltage substation.
· On-site experience in testing and commissioning, FAT and SAT.
