Primary duties of this position will be programming, setting up, and operating (hands on all aspects) high-volume NPT pipe nipple production for the Natural Gas industry on our automated rotary transfer machining line (BLM Group EM80). This is a senior machinist position and has potential to grow with company and run the entire fittings machining department as we scale up. Our company has secured many long-term contracts in the Energy industry so we're looking for a machinist who is looking to stay with us. Our industry doesn't face the typical downturns of the Auto & Aerospace Sectors. We're looking for an innovative CNC Lathe Programmer/Machinist who has deep experience and understanding of machining & automation.
Aaron’s Fabrication is a small, family-owned, high-volume contract manufacturing company located in Clinton Township Michigan that was founded in 2014. Pipe fabrication is what we do. AF high quality products help keep the Gas networks flowing. Our company helps leading Utility companies achieve their vision of creating a more sustainable future. The AF highly diversified fabricated product line includes Meter Set Assemblies, Pipe Nipples, Farm Taps, Regulator Stations, Meter Mounting Brackets and many other fabricated steel piping assemblies. Our manufacturing capabilities include CNC Machining, CNC Pipe Bending, Welding/fabrication, automated hot forge end forming, automation painting & testing. Since our founding, we have manufactured over 200,000 Meter Set Assemblies for leading Fortune 500 Gas Utilities and that number is continuing to grow along with our customer base. We currently relocated our manufacturing operations to a brand new 50,000 square foot facility and still kept our existing building for warehousing operations.
Aaron’s Fabrication is owned and operated by Sue Bursteinowicz CEO (Mom), Jim Gilliam Operations (Dad) and their (Son) Vice President Aaron B. Gilliam. All three are extremely involved in day-to-day operations and are on the shop floor daily. Our company isn’t your typical highly bureaucratic large company, we’re a small, highly dynamic, growing workforce.
Info about the machine you will be running:
- Fully automated Rotary transfer machine with integrated CNC cold saw & 4 CN Heads for end machining pipe nipples
- The machine uses the latest generation of the Siemens 840D CNC control (conversational & macro programming)
- The machine has a bundle loader capable of handling 10,000 pounds of pipe material at 21' lengths.
Rotary transfer experience is NOT required — strong CNC lathe programmers with deep turning expertise can be converted to the EM80.
- CNC Lathe/ Turning programming expert for automotive, oil & gas, medical or defense industries
- Experience with high volume machining lines
- Experience with Siemens 840D CNC control (not required but plus)
- Experience with Rotary transfer machining or trunnion machines (major plus not required)
- Experience with MACRO based programming
- NPT Threading experience
- Experience with swiss machining or multi spindle
- Experience with multi axis lathe
- Robotics FANUC Experience would be plus but not required
- Turn-key Program & operate rotary transfer machining center. We machine pipe nipples (NPT) in high volumes (100,000-300,000 annually)
- Turnkey lead machining department
- Responsible for developing the sequence of operations and machining processes to efficiently use production resources and equipment to create products.
- Switch inserts and adjust offsets as needed
- Define, calculate and set machine parameters to regulate factors
- Complex Machine Changeovers (alignment process) for different diameters and lengths on our rotary transfer machine. Includes switching collets, saw clamps, carriage clamps & tool holders.
- Fill coolant & oil in machine when required
- Go through training with the machine
- Gauge parts according to NPT Standards at the end of the line to ensure conformance to standard
- Optimize programs to enhance tool life and increase cycle times
- Manage machine tooling and optimize setups
- Create standardized work instructions, set up sheets ect
