Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the coordination and preparation of the monthly finance report of the company to senior management and the Board of Directors and the companies' SEC filings, including Forms 10-K/Q and 8-K, as well as the quarterly and annual financial reporting for Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. The Senior Accountant is responsible for developing and maintaining good and effective working relationship with various organizations throughout the company and keeping open communication with affiliates' accounting and finance departments as well as internal and external auditors. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responding to management's and auditors' inquiries and coaching other Financial Reporting colleagues.Keeps current on all SEC and FASB accounting and reporting requirements. Ensures that his/her work is accurate, timely, and in compliance with the companies' procedures, identifies areas for improvement, and takes appropriate actions. Interprets the companies' policies, guided by practices and procedures, to achieve specific objectives as well as to demonstrate critical thinking and sound judgment.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
•Must be committed to the companies' priorities of safety, operational excellence, and customer experience and in compliance with the companies' Standards of Business Conducts and other company policies and governmental regulations, including EH&S.
•Responsible for the coordination and preparation of the monthly finance report of the company to senior management and the Board of Directors.
•Responsible for the coordination and preparation of the companies' SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q/K and 8-K, earnings press release and earnings release presentation, as well as the quarterly and annual financial reporting for Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc.
•Extensive interaction with the Companys senior management in response to their inquiries concerning the financial information presented in the monthly finance report of the company, quarterly/annual Forms 10-Q/K, Forms 8-K, as well as follow-up on inquiries from internal and external auditors.
•Maintain open lines of communication with representatives from organizations throughout the company, as well as internal and external auditors on various financial reporting matters.
•Review all assigned tasks for accuracy and adherence to Company procedures and SOX controls.
•Perform ad hoc tasks and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
•Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline 3 years of related experience
•Master's Degree 2 years of related experience
Preferred Education/Experience
•Master's Degree Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline 2 years of related experience
Relevant Work Experience
•A minimum of five years of work experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related area, required.

Additional Physical Demands
•The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
