Reports To: Director of Operations / Executive Leadership
The Security Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operational functions of Advanced Professional Security. This role ensures that all security services are delivered professionally, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, client expectations, and state licensing requirements.
The Operations Manager supervises field personnel, manages scheduling and staffing, ensures compliance with guard licensing requirements, coordinates with clients, and maintains operational readiness across all assigned accounts.
This position plays a critical leadership role in maintaining APS’s reputation for professionalism, reliability, and high-quality security services.
- Oversee day-to-day security operations across assigned client sites.
- Ensure all posts are staffed according to contractual requirements.
- Monitor scheduling, call-offs, and coverage to prevent service interruptions.
- Coordinate with dispatch, supervisors, and patrol units to maintain operational coverage.
- Ensure officers follow site-specific post orders and company procedures.
- Maintain operational readiness of patrol vehicles, equipment, and uniforms.
- Directly supervise field supervisors, lead officers, and security officers.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and corrective guidance when necessary.
- Ensure officers are properly trained, licensed, and compliant with company standards.
- Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new security personnel.
- Address employee concerns, discipline issues, and workplace conflicts.
- Verify that all security officers possess valid state security guard licenses and required certifications.
- Ensure compliance with all state, local, and company regulations governing private security services.
- Maintain accurate personnel documentation including:
- Licensing records
- Background checks
- Training records
- Incident documentation
- Maintain professional relationships with APS clients and property managers.
- Respond promptly to client concerns or service requests.
- Conduct site visits and client check-ins to ensure satisfaction.
- Assist with onboarding new client accounts and implementing service plans.
- Oversee the investigation and documentation of incidents occurring at APS sites.
- Review incident reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure appropriate escalation and reporting to management and clients.
- Coordinate with law enforcement when necessary.
- Manage staffing levels and workforce allocation across all accounts.
- Ensure accurate scheduling within company scheduling systems.
- Monitor overtime usage and implement strategies to control labor costs.
- Ensure guards assigned to posts meet all licensing and training requirements.
- Ensure all officers complete required training and certifications.
- Provide ongoing operational guidance and field training.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and safety.
- Conduct site inspections and patrol checks to ensure compliance with post orders.
- Audit reports, logs, and operational documentation.
- Implement corrective action plans when service deficiencies are identified.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in security operations or law enforcement.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory or management experience.
- Valid state security guard license (or ability to obtain).
- Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple sites and operational priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with security management software, scheduling systems, and reporting tools.
- Experience managing large security teams or multi-site contracts.
- Knowledge of security technology systems (GPS patrol tracking, reporting systems, body cameras, etc.).
- Experience with incident management and risk mitigation.
- Military, law enforcement, or corporate security background.
- Ability to conduct field inspections and site visits.
- Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations when required.
- Combination of office work and field operations.
- May require evening, weekend, or on-call availability to support operations.
