Description:
•Adhere to company safety policy and all OSHA requirements
•Interact with suppliers and peddlers on a daily basis
•Demonstrate good customer service
•Inspect all inbound scrap metal deliveries
•Document (using tablet or another company-issued device) any non-conforming items in scrap metal deliveries and report findings to scale operator and commercial personnel. On-the-job training provided.
•Make appropriate deductions for loads containing excessive non-metallic material
•Maintain constant communication with office personnel, operators, and on-site company drivers by radio and phone
•Monitor and direct traffic flow through the yard
•Crosstrain in multiple roles and on various pieces of mobile equipment to assist general operations when shorthanded
•Use handheld Geiger counter to survey loads and pinpoint location of lightly radioactive material
•Maintain hard copy of commodity description with picture handbook
•As needed, present ‘lessons learned’ and/or training to staff at plant operations meeting
•Make recommendations for process improvement through proper channels as needed
•Crosstrain staff on inspection procedures
Requirements:
•Minimum 1 year of experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment
•Ability to navigate in, and adapt to, a fast-paced and dynamic environment
•Ability to work Saturdays and extended hours during the week
•Ability to adhere to schedule
•Ability to work well under pressure and diffuse tense interpersonal situations
•Must have dependable transportation to and from work
•Must have a cellular phone
•Ability to stand/walk/remain outside in most weather conditions for up to 12 hours per day
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs several times a day
•Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions
•Prior experience operating heavy equipment is a plus
•Knowledge of different metals (metal identification) a plus
•Ability to speak Spanish and English (Bilingual) a plus
