About This Job

Description:

•

Adhere to company safety policy and all OSHA requirements

•

Interact with suppliers and peddlers on a daily basis

•

Demonstrate good customer service

•

Inspect all inbound scrap metal deliveries

•

Document (using tablet or another company-issued device) any non-conforming items in scrap metal deliveries and report findings to scale operator and commercial personnel. On-the-job training provided.

•

Make appropriate deductions for loads containing excessive non-metallic material

•

Maintain constant communication with office personnel, operators, and on-site company drivers by radio and phone

•

Monitor and direct traffic flow through the yard

•

Crosstrain in multiple roles and on various pieces of mobile equipment to assist general operations when shorthanded

•

Use handheld Geiger counter to survey loads and pinpoint location of lightly radioactive material

•

Maintain hard copy of commodity description with picture handbook

•

As needed, present ‘lessons learned’ and/or training to staff at plant operations meeting

•

Make recommendations for process improvement through proper channels as needed

•

Crosstrain staff on inspection procedures

Requirements:

•

Minimum 1 year of experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment

•

Ability to navigate in, and adapt to, a fast-paced and dynamic environment

•

Ability to work Saturdays and extended hours during the week

•

Ability to adhere to schedule

•

Ability to work well under pressure and diffuse tense interpersonal situations

•

Must have dependable transportation to and from work

•

Must have a cellular phone

•

Ability to stand/walk/remain outside in most weather conditions for up to 12 hours per day

•

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs several times a day

•

Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions

•

Prior experience operating heavy equipment is a plus

•

Knowledge of different metals (metal identification) a plus

•

Ability to speak Spanish and English (Bilingual) a plus
