Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Shop Supervisor to oversee operations in our metal fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a solid background in metal fabrication and welding processes. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing daily activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in the shop environment.
Duties
•Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop personnel to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules and safety protocols.
•Fabricate metal components using various hand tools and machining equipment, including press brake machines, CNC plasma table, MIG welding, angle grinders, bench grinder, drill press, chop saw, etc. We do offer some training, but candidate should have strong knowledge and experience welding and fabricating metal.
•Read and interpret workorders, blueprints or schematics to understand the requirements of each project. Ensure that all fabrication tasks are completed accurately according to specifications outlined in schematics.
•Train and mentor team members on best practices for assembly, welding, and use of mechanical tools.
•Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to maintain safety standards and operational efficiency.
•Collaborate with management to troubleshoot issues related to mechanical processes or product designs.
•Maintain accurate records of production metrics, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Requirements
•Must be able to work in a hot or cold metal shop environment
•Must be able to lift 60 lbs independently
•Must be able to stand for long periods of time
•Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read and interpret schematics and workorders.
•Experience with sheet metal fabrication, assembly processes, and welding techniques.
•Proficiency in operating forklifts and other heavy machinery safely.
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively.
