Scale House Clerk

Overview The Scale House Clerk weighs vehicles, records transaction data (weights, fees, load types) , handles customer service for drivers, processes payments, and maintains accurate records and a tidy workspace, ensuring compliance and efficient operations with strong attention to detail and basic math/computer skills.

Duties

- Weighing & Data Entry: Operate computerized truck scales, record weights for inbound/outbound vehicles (waste, materials, etc.), and input data into systems.

- Customer Service: Greet drivers, answer questions, provide directions, and resolve basic concerns with a friendly demeanor.

- Financial Transactions: Collect fees (cash, card), balance cash drawers, prepare daily reports, and make bank deposits.

- Documentation: Generate tickets, invoices, and reports, ensuring all transactions are accurately documented for billing and regulatory compliance.

- Site Maintenance: Keep the scale house and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of debris.

- Compliance: Verify loads and ensure adherence to facility rules

Qualifications

- Accuracy & Detail: Critical for weight, data entry, and financial reconciliation.

- Communication: Clear verbal skills for interacting with drivers and staff.

- Computer Proficiency: Basic data entry and office software skills.

- Math Skills: For calculating weights, fees, and balancing funds.

- Multitasking: Handling multiple tasks in a busy environment.

- Physical Ability: May involve sitting and standing for periods or handling light materials

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 56 per week
