American Assay Laboratories (AAL) is an independent, full-service, geochemical analytical testing laboratory. Being located in Sparks Nevada where 80% of the US gold production occurs has allowed us to become one of the most experienced gold, silver and precious metals assay labs in the world and one of the largest labs in the western US. We are a full-service lab capable of providing all the standard lab services, as well as many added capabilities. Our Sparks, Nevada, operation can provide in-house analytical services using Fire Assay, ICP-AES, ICP-MS, X-Ray Fluorescence, X-Ray Diffraction, CHS, IC, and our Scanning Electron Microscope.

Basic Summary

American Assay Laboratories Core Cutter will be responsible for cutting diamond drill core using a wet rock saw, bagging and tagging core samples. Cut drill core as directed by client using masonry saw. The individual will ensure all sampling and safety procedures are followed.

- Cut drill core as directed by client using wet masonry saw

- Review and interpret a ‘cut sheet’ and contextual information as it relates to the core sample box

- Identify sample sequence and produce marked sample bags

- Sample material from core boxes based on specified intervals as directed on cutsheet

- Maintain own production logs, monitor saw blade use

- Handle, stack and organize core sample boxes

- Inspect equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required;

- May assist with general Sample Prep and Warehouse duties/tasks

- Perform and maintain quality standards as set forth by American Assay Laboratories protocol

- Observe AAL safety regulations and comply with all AAL health and safety policies and procedures

- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time

- Ability to work in a hot, dusty and wet environment

- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks

- Ability to lift up to 50lbs; (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee)

- Ability to walk and carry 50lbs

- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities

- Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment
