Sample Management Technician I

At SPL, we turn science into impact. We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our laboratory team in Williston, ND. In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

What You’ll Do

- Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff;

- Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines;

- Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system;

- Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner;

- Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols;

- Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required;

- Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities;

- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with company standards and safety requirements;

- Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while upholding accuracy, quality, and procedural standards;

- Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position and training provided.

Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required;

- Familiarity with basic chemistry preferred;

- Basic computer skills, including database and spreadsheet entry;

Your Schedule and The Fine Print

- Full-time position following a standard Monday through Friday schedule;

- Ability to work outside of scheduled hours, including evenings or weekends, as required to meet operational or workload needs.
