Sample Catchers Needed / Good for Geo Students or Consultants - (Gillette WY Area)

We are seeking a longer term solution to short term (4-7 days on average) help with sample collection during the 2026 Winter and Spring Seasons. If you are retired oil/energy worker, this may be a semi-regular way to supplement your income.

This position would be a good fit for local geology students on break or a rig/service hand looking to pocket some extra cash.

Your Role:

To supplement our on-site geology staff, you will aid them in collecting samples of cuttings returning to the surface. This is messy work, exposed to the elements, performed on a drilling rig. It is also KEY to the detailed lab work we preform. It's not hard, just messy, with quite a bit of walking back and forth.

We will teach the right candidate how to prepare for, collect, and label wet lithology samples in a water based drilling fluid.

You will be responsible for 12 hours of coverage. 6am/6pm or 6pm/6am for example.

You may collect samples all 12 hours, or you may spend a full shift talking with us in the lab.

Our schedule is dictated by rig operations and varies greatly from day to day.

This experience will yield a greater understanding of how geological data is collected at the ground level and distributed through an organization.

Project Locations:

This project is in Campbell County Wyoming, about an hour drive from Gillette.

How We Operate:

Our wellsite geology staff are all consulting sub-contractors. You bring your PPE and knowledge, we provide the rest.

Safety, Integrity, and Professionalism are paramount, even in this limited role.

You will be operating as an independent contractor or consultant. An LLC or other legal entity is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.

We pay upon completion of your duties, by direct deposit ACH.

Pay is 400 per day during drilling operations and 275 per day if placed on standby.

This is 1099 compensated work, not W2 work. You will be responsible for withholding your own taxes.

On-site housing and lab space is provided.

Transportation to the rigs site is not provided.

This position is only open to U.S. Citizens or U.S. Residents with legal Work Authorization.

Pre-employment drug screening, employment history verification and background checks will be preformed.

A valid drivers license and proof of auto insurance will be requested.

Prior Experience on a drilling rig is a plus.

Revochem sampling experience is a plus.

Qualified Applicants will possess the following:

- MUST HAVE US WORK AUTHORIZATION

- Ability to work contract 1099 and own an LLC or DBA

- Must be able to pass physical, background check, and drug screening

- Excellent communication skills: Must be fluent in English.

- Courteous communication habits: respond to text messages and calls. We do not micromanage, but we do like to have an open line of communication with you.

- Ability to work 12-hour shifts

- Ability to maintain clean work and living environment

- Ability to meet Safety Related Grooming Standards

- Ability to follow ALL Production Company safety rules and company policies

Relevant Details:

- This service typically will require between 4-10 days away from home, living on a rig site.

- Housing is provided. It is not luxurious. It is a single wide mobile home.

- Transportation to and from the rig is NOT provided.

- This position does NOT have a flexible schedule. When the rigs work, we work.

- You will need a hard hat, FR clothing, gloves, safety glasses and an H2S meter.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Arrive at job site as scheduled, with all required safety equipment and clothing.

- During drilling operations, collect geological samples at the prescribed intervals.

- Wash and label as directed.

- Notify Geology personnel of changes observed at the shakers. (colors/textures)

- Assist in cleaning, disassembling and rigging down of all equipment.

Pay: $350.00 - $400.00 per day
